Baldwin said he later had the painting examined by experts who told him it wasn't the original painting that Bleckner did in 1996. JCPenney College Scholarship Funding Awards - 29 Aug 2016 19:15

Tags:

[
]JCPenney definitely has a long history of supporting after school programs and students who want to go to college. Recently three Hispanic students were given funding of fifteen thousand dollars each to attend college along. This also included a makeover which took place at a local JCPenney store. Another one of the company's endeavors to provide youth across the country with opportunities to earn a college degree involves their giving fifty thousand dollars in scholarship packages to certain young adults who want to complete their education. This is a tremendous relief for those who would not be able to attend without this help.

JCPenney's tuition sweepstakes started on July 21st, 2010 and went to the beginning of September. Each scholarship that is given out is transferable, meaning that whoever receives it will be able to give it to whoever they want. The large chain of clothing stores with locations throughout the country encourages students who are thirteen and older to apply. The winner of a this scholarship has fifty thousand dollars transferred to them into a special 529 account which helps them save up for their future college education.

Students who are still in middle school or high school and wish to start planning for their college education can apply through their website.

There are also scholarship opportunities for students who want to enroll in Washington State University. Specifically, the Department of Apparel, Design, Textiles, and Merchandising is a program one can get funding for. Students are selected for this scholarship based on a number of things, including overall GPA and SAT scores. They will also be evaluated for an essay which must be submitted. The awarded amount ranges between $100 to $4,000 and it can be a great opportunity for students to get the money they need for college. The due date for this particular scholarship at Washington Statue University is January 31st, 2011. It is wonderful to see their support for education and enthusiasm in helping those in middle school to think about their futures. Target and Walmart are also popular stores that offer awards for students to help with tuition and books during the college years.

http://student.ezinemark.com/jcpenney-college-scholarship-funding-awards-16ffb51e7ae.html[
] - Comments: 0

Exploring key issues concerning Fish Farms - 29 Aug 2016 17:32

Tags:

[
]Fish farming and over fishing has been a key issue worldwide in recent times. This derives from fish populations dramatically decreasing for a number of different reasons. A number of those reasons are usually tied to the fact that too much over fishing takes place. Associations and organisations are dedicated in researching and resolving many issues and problems facing marine life around the world. Fish is obviously very popular and it is indeed very good for you, containing nutrients and oils which supplement our body's needs perfectly. Our demand for fish and marine life is increasing and as consumers ourselves we should always check where our food sources come from. Fish farms are advantageous in that sense since they obviously boost fish populations and create employment for the local areas.

If we look into aquaculture and the use and growth of fish farms we can immediately see the many advantages and disadvantages. Fish farms by nature can be extremely inefficient. Especially in the cases of farms which harbour fish like Salmon which are carnivorous by nature and therefore obviously need to be fed on other marine life. This contributes to the pressures faced by wild fisheries to produce more, to fulfil the demand of the hungry fish produced in farms.

It is important though, not to forget that some fish farms are more economic than others you may find. A new trend is the idea of a vegetarian fish farm. Within these farms, the fish themselves are fed solely on vegetarian food pellets obviously diminishing the need for the consumption of wild fish produce. Some would possibly argue that this is still wholly unnatural, especially for the fish that are not vegetarian by nature. This method may actually implicate the health of the fish and not provide as much nutritional value as those in the wild. It should also be noted that 'pellets' like the ones mentioned are usually developed from protein sources such as corn and soya, and could provide more nutritional value if they were consumed by humans in the first instance.

In contrast to the fish caught fresh from the Sea, fish farms can actually generate their own problems. These problems can consist of abnormal concentrations of pollution caused by the waste that these fish produce and other elements like parasites that can spread from fish farms to wild populations, diminishing their numbers. Fish farms can pollute and drastically change habitats of surrounding wild species and again this contributes to the decrease in wild populations. It is comforting to know that organisations are around which do explore these methods and try and keep them controlled and monitored.

http://fishing.ezinemark.com/exploring-key-issues-concerning-fish-farms-18234d52132.html[
] - Comments: 0

(AP) — A citizens group has sued the city of Fremont over actions taken to help Costco Wholesale build a chicken processing plant in the eastern Nebraska community.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in Dodge County District Court by Nebraska Communities United on behalf of three Fremont residents. It alleges that the city illegally declared nearly 1,000 acres — including around 400 acres of farmland — to be substandard and blighted so tax-increment financing could be used for property improvements the plant needs.

Tax-increment financing uses the increased property taxes generated by developments to pay off bonds issued to pay for improvements.

"The city of Fremont is trying to sidestep state laws and declare perfectly good agricultural land as blighted and substandard, and it needs to be stopped," said John Schauer, a local farmer and member of the citizens group.

The interim city administrator, Brian Newton, said Tuesday that the city hadn't yet seen the lawsuit.

"Of course, we'll vigorously defend any action against us," Newton said. City officials and attorneys believe the city correctly followed Nebraska statutes, he said.

Costco and Georgia-based Lincoln premium Poultry have said the plant would employ up to 1,100 people, and area farmers would grow the chickens in about 400 barns for Costco.

Opponents have raised concerns about corporate livestock ownership, the potential for diseases such as avian flu and the potential impact on schools, housing and roads. Earlier this year, the Nickerson Village Board voted against the plant being built between Nickerson and Fremont.

Nebraska Communities United said it was formed to keep area residents aware of developments about Costco's plans.

http://markets.cbsnews.com/Fremont-sued-over-actions-taken-to-aid-Costco-chicken-plant/691cbad63a98027f/[
] - Comments: 0
